Printed for Vernor & Hood, London by R & W Dean, Manchester and sold by Merritt and Wright, Liverpool and Thomas Browne, Hull. 1800. pp. xxviii, 179. Frontis. 8vo. Full calf, spine relaid. Minor foxing. Ex-library with markings on the spine, Bridlington Public Library bookplate and blind stamp occasionally throughout. Contains an interesting List of Subscribers mainly from the Hull area. Thomas Browne was born in 1771 in Lestingham and educated in Hull by the outstanding headmaster of the Grammar School, Rev. Joseph Milner. After living in Yeddington and Bridlington, he moved to Hull and became Editor of the Hull Advertiser in 1797. Before his death in 1798 he also took holy orders and got married. His great uncle was the Hull Bookseller of the same name - Thomas Browne, who in 1798 called for subscribers, for the book, in the Hull Advertiser. Johnson 141. See also Chilton p34/35.
