'Consists of a series of letters originally published in a Liverpool journal. Essentially not a travel work at all but rather a visious attack on Governor Picton by a low-minded, scurrilous writer specializing in casting foul aspertions. M'Callum had been deported from Trinidad in 1803 on Picton's order for having attempted to seduce the militia from its duty.'
