c. 1850. Manuscript. 17pp. 8vo. Half calf, marbled boards. This MS starts as the title suggest, then has sections headed On Figurative Langiage, On Metaphor, & Allegory. It praises Samuel Johnson among other British literary giants. The majority of the book is blank except for 3pp headed Calandrier Republicain which starts 'En 1792, ou a fait un grand changement dans le calandrier, en France....' (in 1792, a major change was made to the calendar in France.) The paper is watermarked Joynson 1846, the hand is slightly old fashioned for the time - where there is a double ss the first is written as f so fs suggesting an older person.
