James Lee (1715 - 1795). About 1745 Lee and Lewis Kennedy started the Vineyard nursery in Hammersmith, on the site of a former vineyard. Lee was a correspondent of Linnaeus, who named a genus, Leea, after him. Lee's translation of Linnaeus's Philosophia Botanica, under the title of Introduction to Botany ( First published 1760), was the first description of the sexual system of plants to appear in English.
