There is a rather dull/dark fore edge painting of Ye Old Cheshire Cheese, a pub/chop house still in existence on Fleet Street, a haunt of many literary cahracters including Samuel Johnson and Charles Dickens who described the pub in A Tale of Two Cities. The two short stories by Mary Shelley are The Sisters of Albano, an Italian romance and Ferdinando Eboli, a Gothic tale - both first published in this volume.
